1.) One must know the general characteristics of the insect:
A. Three main body regions:  Head, Thorax, and Abdomen

B. Six Legs or 3 pairs attached to the thorax
        
C.
Two pairs of wings on most and attached to the thorax
        
D.
Single pair of antenna

2.) Collections are due for grading approximately the middle of February

A. Number:  55 for the A
                            45 for the B
                            35 for the C
                            30 for the D
B. Quality:  Insects should be complete with body parts
                          Neatness of the collection
                          Correct box, mounting, and pinning
C. Mounting:  Use a box with a lid which is sturdy, Styrofoam should be
                             placed in the bottom of the box.
D. One should include seven different orders in the collection.
             The following insects are of different orders:
             Butterflies or moths, bees, grasshoppers or crickets, flies,
             dragonflies, flea, lice, stinkbugs, beetle, and common cicada.
